Push is a  501(c)(3) maternal health nonprofit organization that serves women, moms-to-be, and families. To accomplish our mission, Push is 1) comprised of passionate public health professionals, peer support advocates, community health workers (CHWs), and patient advocates who are dedicated to improving maternal health experiences and outcomes and 2) works with various community partners, action committees, hospitals, agencies, and other organizations. Push is committed to giving back through hands-on opportunities in a multidisciplinary environment to mission-driven volunteers and committed interns. 

The right candidate will play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of Push and provides a variety of administrative and business support. The individual in this role will perform several tasks depending on specific projects and existing priorities. This includes administrative, research, community outreach, and other tasks as assigned. The volunteer / intern provides support for all aspects of our organization and current programs and services.

Our volunteer program requires a one-year commitment. However, flexibility will be granted for the right candidate who is seeking a seasonal internship and/or internship for college credit.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and effective internet search.

  • Draft and create documents such as reports, business letters, memos, presentations, and more.

  • Assist in the implementation of health programs for women's and maternal health.

  • Communicate with community members. 

  • Distribute outreach materials. 

  • Assist with program initiatives including ensuring compliant intake process flow and timely follow-up. 

  • Provide clerical and administrative help as needed.

  • Other duties.

Qualifications

  • 1 - 2 years of related experience.

  • University students pursuing related degrees and seeking internships are welcome to apply.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from different cultural, economic and geographic backgrounds with varying degrees of stress and familial hardship.

  • Previous experience in a health-related setting preferred. 

  • High degree of professionalism.

  • Self-motivated, flexible, and possesses high level of personal integrity.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong written and verbal skills.

  • Ability to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Desire to support Push’s mission.

  • Collaborate with local associations to expand programs and secure community partners. 

  • Respect and maintain confidentiality of Push volunteers, partners, beneficiaries, donors, and other stakeholders.

  • Given the nature of Push’s mission—its commitment to the community, stakeholders, and supporters—all volunteers/interns are subject to a background check.
