PhoneE-Mail

Kelsie Barta is a Family Nurse Practitioner, a clinical nursing instructor, and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Her passion and the majority of her work experience is in maternal-child health. She is also working toward her Ph.D. at Texas Woman's University, where her eventual goal is to perform lactation research. In particular, she is interested in empowering parents to breastfeed, equitable access to lactation care, and health policy.

Kelsie joined PUSH in 2021 where she manages and administers breastfeeding and lactation programs and currently serves on the Fundraising and Grants Committee. She lives in Richmond, Texas with her husband and two young children. Kelsie has had several experiences in pregnancy and the postpartum period that were not straightforward or ideal, including early pregnancy losses, gestational diabetes, placenta previa, and early breastfeeding difficulties. However, her network of support provided the resources she needed to navigate those situations to the best of her ability. Her hope for all new and expectant parents is that they are granted the same level of care and support that she was afforded. She is very excited to work with PUSH to improve maternal health experiences and outcomes.
